News of consultation and a public meeting - Wednesday 12th December 7pm - 9pm at The Art Academy (former Newington Library, 155 Walworth Road).
There has been progress on the Walworth Town Hall redevelopment by Southwark Council and two of the bidders have now submitted their proposals for the redevelopment of the Walworth Town Hall and former Newington Library buildings.

The stated aim in the Southwark Council Plan (2018-2022)* is to "Secure the future of Walworth Town Hall and make it a publicly accessible cultural hub".

Southwark have now published their programme of public consultation and evaluation of these bids; the consultation phase will run from Monday 26th November 2018 to January 21st 2019.

As part of this, Southwark Council is holding a public meeting to be held jointly between themselves and The Walworth Society on Wednesday 12th December.

On that day, firstly there will be an exhibition of the proposals from the two bidders from 5pm to 7pm in the Gallery at the Art Academy, 155 Walworth Road and then afterwards a public meeting which will run from 7pm to 9pm at which the bidders will present their plans and then there will be a question and answer session and discussion about them. Also present to discuss the plans will be senior Southwark Councillors who will be able to field questions about Southwark's role in the redevelopment.

Southwark’s programme of engagement includes three drop-in sessions, all to be held at the Art Academy (155 Walworth Road), so that people can discuss the proposals with the bidders, at the following times:
i) 5-7pm Wednesday 12 December. This session will then be followed at 7pm by the public meeting mentioned above.
ii) 3-5pm Thursday 13 December.
iii) 12-2pm on Saturday 15 December.
