WS - October Meeting & Latest Local News

1. WS October Meeting - 7pm Thursday 1st October 2015. The notes from the meeting are attached below. Our next meeting is Thursday 5th November 7pm - St Peter's Church.

2. Masons Arms - East St (15/AP/3022)

Good news (at least in the short term) as the planning application to redevelop the Masons Arms has been rejected (on the grounds of loss of A Class floorspace, an unacceptable standard of residential accommodation and damage to the historic facade).

Thanks to everyone who came along to our protest or who wrote into the planning department objecting to this development and thanks too to the three East Walworth Councillors who supported the objections so strongly.

 

3. Walworth's Got Talent & St Peter's Churchyard Consultation Event

Next Saturday 3rd October is the fifth annual Walworth's Got Talent at St Peter's Church in Liverpool Grove.Father Andrew says "Walworth’s biggest and best talent show! Come and watch the performances or get involved yourself – no one is too young or too old! There will also be a bell-ringing workshop so you can have a go and see if you fancy joining a new St Peter’s team! We also need volunteers to help on the day."

4. Southwark Council - Cleaner Greener Safer Fund

Southwark's 2016/17 round of CGS is now open and applications can be submitted up

5. City Hunt Elephant

City Hunt Elephant is a free public heritage hunt in which players discover Elephant & Castle's rich history. Over October half-term players will take to the streets to work out a series of clues and win prizes. If you have a smartphone you can play online from 24-30th October at www.cityhunt.co.uk or pick up an illustrated map from our start station at Artworks on 24th, 25th or 28th October. Players who sign up before 8th October are automatically entered in to a prize draw.

7. Old Kent Road Community Forum - next meeting 7pm Tuesday 20th October.

Focus of the meeting is new buildings people want in the area and how local people can benefit from these future changes.

 

8. Skipton House Redevelopment. There are consultation events about the redevelopment of this important site at the E&C by London & Regional Properties. The details are:
