5. Carnaval del Pueblo.

Info below from CdP about this year's Plaza Latina Festival (Saturday, July 23 - Nursery Row Park, East Street) plus their fundraising as part of the Mayor of London Civic Crowdfunding Programme 2016.

For full details see: https://www.spacehive.com/saborcito

"Crowd source fund raising with the GLA and Spacehive, donate £2 - a great way to support Carnaval del Pueblo deliver a great free event in Walworth for the whole family and win £20,000 for the event.

Crowd source fundraising is quite newish in the UK and being promoted by the GLA in partnership with the company Spacehive.

The aim is for the public to express their support of a community activity by pledging money (a minimum of £2) and doing this on line by debit, credit card or PayPal and in doing so register their e mail and perhaps a message of support. The organisation option lets companies and organisations donate and upload their logo therefore getting into the GLA's page on the Spacehive website, really good exposure.

The main part of the campaign is RIGHT NOW! Simply, if we get many pledges NOW we can win a £20,000 donation from the Mayor of London on the 6th of June which will make our event Plaza Latina even more exciting and leave loads of legacy to work with throughout the year - an example is our partners, Studio Gil, actually building a portable busking zone so we can enjoy musical busking in East Street all year round - the last regular 'live' music there was at the turn of the century - a hurdy gurdy! The money will help book brilliant artists too for Plaza Latina and leave us in a stronger position to get ready for Carnaval del Pueblo itself in 2017 and beyond.  We often go to things and wonder how we could be involved and here is a way where with £2 and say 10 minutes of your time you can make a difference - please spend 5 minutes pledging your self and 5 more minutes asking friends to do it too!  Simple click on this link and follow the instructions and let all your own friends and contacts know too.  This will ensure Plaza Latina goes Way up in quality this year for the whole of Walworth and beyond - thank you!"
