The Walworth Society recently announced that they will bringing back to life the old Walworth Festival as a major event in Walworth for 2017. Not seen since the early 1980s, they will be creating four street and Park based festivals across four Saturdays this Summer along with a package of local events to promote the heritage, creativity and diversity of the Walworth area.

This is a huge opportunity for local residents (and those who work in the area) to invest something into their local community, and to find out more about the streets around them.

We want to hear your ideas for the festival but, most importantly, we need your help! This Walworth CAN (Community Action Network) meeting will be bringing to life some of the area's local history and characters though film and performances by local actors. John Whelan, who is orchestrating events, will also be on hand to provide attendees with all the information they could need.

So... want to find out more about a festival that will be taking the Walworth area by storm this summer? Have you got any ideas of the types of things you would like to see at the festival? Do you have a community event you would like to publicise or would you like to tell people about the work that your community group does? Do you want to volunteer to help on one or more of the festival days? If the answer is YES, your community and the Walworth Festival needs YOU!

There will also be some time set aside to discuss any general issues that you might want to raise, as well as providing the opportunity for you to share any news and information that is relevant to Walworth.

If the answer is yes come and join us at Crossway Christian Centre (behind the Strata tower). 18 Hampton Street. SE1 6SN. Monday 12th June 6pm-8pm. Their will also be a community history film and some actors from People's Company animating local history as part of the event.
