1. Notes from the September meeting on the Future of the Walworth Road as a High Street.
Thanks so much to the more than 50 poople who came along (in person and online) to the meeting that we held on Weds 11th September to discuss the future of the Walworth Road as a high street. We are grateful to the speakers Cllr John Batteson and Southwark Council Officer Libby Dunstan for fielding a large number of questions and comments and the fabulous contributions from the floor throughout the evening.
Huge thanks go to society Secretary Vince Brown for the detailed notes of the meeting which are arranged in terms of the themes that were covered rather in chronological order on the evening.

We will do our very best to continue the dialogue with Southwark Council on these issues and press for the changes that people argued so passionately for.

2. October Walworth Society Meeting – Wednesday 16th October at 7pm – in person at The Treehouse Elephant Park and online.
Coming up is our October meeting which will be held at the Treehouse in Elephant Park (GROUND FLOOR, ELEPHANT PARK, SAYER STREET, SE17 1HL) and online (Zoom Link TBC).
There is already a packed agenda and we will aim to cover the following:
1. Elephant & Castle West site – consultation update.
2. Neighbourhood Food Model update from Pembroke House.
3. Leanne Werner Founder of WeAreWilder on increasing biodiversity in Walworth.
4. Daniel Aarons from Conveenie on matching community groups to community space in Southwark.
5. Beehive PH planning appeal hearing – 10am Weds 22nd October Tooley St. Planning for the day.
3. Stories from the Elephant & Castle in the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s – The Old Cow in the Kitchen.
Coming up on Saturday 12th October at 2.30pm a great event at Siobhan Davies Studios (85 St George’s Rd SE1 6ER) looking back at what the E&C area was like in days gone by with a short film and accounts of the area at that time.

a. Chamber music at St Peter’s Church
Date for the dairy. #BlackHistoryMonth music event at St Peter’s Church Sunday 20th October – 1.15pm. Funds raised go towards the St Peter’s restoration appeal.
