2. Walworth Garden – Training Opportunity: Fundraising for community groups – Sunday 17th November.

News from Walworth Garden’s CEO and Head Gardener Oli Haden:

I just wanted to share this upcoming training opportunity that might be of interest to your community/volunteers.

This session is ideal for those with little to no experience in fundraising, and anyone who volunteers or works with community groups (particularly gardening groups) and would like to begin supporting them further by bringing in funding. We’ll be focusing mostly on gardening spaces and the people that work within them, but the  general tips and tricks will be widely applicable.

Workshop: Introduction to Fundraising for Community Groups
Date: Sunday, November 17, 10AM – 3PM
Location: Walworth Garden (SE17).

Free places are still available for Southwark residents, but bookings are open to all at:
https://walworthgarden.org.uk/workshop-events/basics-of-fundraising-nov-24
We will also be running a shorter, online version of this session in March – learn more here.

3. St Peter’s Church 200th Anniversary Appeal

News from Father Andrew at St Peter’s Church:

St Peter’s needs us! St Peter’s Church, Walworth is our community’s only Grade 1 listed building, and is Sir John Soane’s finest and best-preserved church.

St Peter’s are currently working on a Round One National Lottery Heritage Fund application which will include both restoration of St Peter’s Church and also a number of exciting heritage activities, including working with a wide range of organisations across Walworth.

For the Round One Application, funds of £438,000 are being requested from the Heritage Fund, and St Peter’s needs to raise £33,000 in match funding. The Rector, Father Andrew, reckons that if 200 of us here in Walworth and beyond could pledge to donate or fundraise £165 (£13.27 a month for one year), we would reach the total! If we’re able to Gift Aid our donations, that would mean only £11/month or £2.54 a week for one year, a total of £132+Gift Aid.

Please help if you can by filling in this online form, https://bit.ly/stpeters200group, where you can find St Peter’s Parish Bank Account details to set up payments, as well as options to give online or by cheque, and to receive special email updates from St Peter’s if you choose.

Father Andrew says, “Thanks in advance for your help in restoring and opening up even more our beautiful Grade 1 listed jewel in the crown of Walworth! I know we can do it together! And thank you to church and community members who’ve already signed up to the St Peter’s 200 Group, of which I am proud to be the first paid up member!”

If you have any questions, or need any help signing up, please do email Andrew at rector@stpeterswalworth.org

We are seeking your feedback on plans to improve Multi-Use Games Areas
(MUGAs) in Southwark. This project is a collaboration between the
Football Foundation (supported by the Premier League), Southwark

activities offered at each specific site.
Accessibility for All:
These facilities will offer a mix of freely accessible spaces and bookable areas to ensure everyone has a chance to participate.
Consultation:
