| 4. Old Kent Road Area Action Plan Consultation Response Session – Tues 18th March. An Old Kent Road Area Action Plan consultation-response support session organised by SGTO will be held on Tuesday 18th March from 7-9pm at Ormside Projects, Penarth Centre, 32 Ormside Street, SE15 1TR. For more information email joshua@sgto.co.uk. Ahead of this session Joshua who spoke at our last WS meeting, writes about the proposed Heritage and Character policies: “Entitled ‘Character and Heritage’, AAP 11 states that development on the Old Kent Road will ‘ensure that the area’s local heritage assets are conserved’. The AAP does specifically commit to a variety of things, including preserving and repurposing the gasholder within a new park and reinstating building frontages back on the high street. However, as seen across the borough, what is eventually built can differ hugely from previous promises. Moreover, there is a fundamental tension between multiple 20+ storey buildings and preserving conservation areas.” |
