1. Public Meeting – The Future of the Walworth Road – 7pm Thurs 10th April.

At this weeks’ WS meeting we discuss the future of the Walworth Road in the light of the recently published E&C and Walworth Town Centre Action Plan.

Speakers include Cllr John Batteson Southwark Council Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency, Jobs and Business plus members of the E&C Business Forum who will talk about the benefits of Business Improvement Districts (BID) and a proposed BID for the E&C/Walworth area.

DATE & TIME: Thursday 10th April – the meeting will run from 7pm to 8.30pm. 
WHERE: The Main Hall, The Crypt, St Peter’s Church SE17 2HH and online.

2. Walworth History Through Song – 6.30pm Sat 3rd May.

The next Walworth History Through Song event will be held at 6.30pm on Saturday 3rd May at St Paul’s Church, Lorrimore Square, SE17 3QU.

We tell stories from the history of West Walworth – the Newington ward area – and as always there will be songs that tell the story of the history of the area sung by local people as well as lots of historical background. The event is supported by the Southwark Council Neighbourhoods Fund.

Everyone is VERY welcome.

3. Royal British Legion – Braganza St: Room Hire.

News from the Royal British Legion on Braganza St of a room for hire for events. The details are:

4. Walworth Living Room, Surrey Square – re-opens Friday 11th April.

News from Pembroke House that following refurbishment, the Walworth Living Room (All Saints Hall, Surrey Square, SE17 2JU), re-opens to the public at 9am on Friday 11 April 2025.

  • Thursdays 10am to 5pm
  • Fridays 9am to 4pm
  • Saturdays 10am to 2pm

A dynamic social and cultural hub, the Living Room is a free space for local residents of all ages to meet, share, eat and learn new things. From collage, drumming and knitting workshops, to youth coding classes and discussions on local issues, to a shared community meal, there’s something for everyone to get involved with. People can even create and lead their own workshops based on their interests, skills and knowledge.

The aim of the Living Room is to strengthen the fabric of the neighbourhood by nurturing connections and building relationships amongst diverse neighbours and by supporting people to work together to improve the neighbourhood.
