1. Tribute to Shelagh Kavanagh and funeral arrangements

We have now received details of Shelagh’s funeral which will be held this coming Friday 29th September at 3.15pm at Honor Oak Crematorium. The funeral will be followed by a funeral tea at:

Hatcham House, in the Hatcham Liberal Club Building (left hand side entrance),
367 Queens Road, New Cross, London, SE14 5HD from 5-9pm.

All are very welcome. Please let us know if you would like to attend the funeral or funeral tea. We will look to organise transport for those who are planning to go along.

Our tribute to Shelagh who was a wonderful and really involved member of the society appears below.

  1. Saddened to hear about the passing of Shelagh Kavanagh last September, through your website.
    I met Shelagh on the 16th October 1971 at a party in Altrincham, Cheshire, at a time when she was living in Fieldside Road, Rock Ferry, Birkenhead, with her elderly mother. Slightly older and a great deal wiser, she was nonetheless part of my growing up and never to be forgotten.
    Just happy to learn that she had a fulfilled and rewarding life, in a place where she spent most of her student and adult life; and that she was clearly loved and held in such high regard by many.
