| 2. Pembroke House Becoming Neighbours Project (Thurs 27th Nov) AND Winter In Walworth Event 6pm Weds 10th December. News from Pembroke House. 1. Becoming Neighbours Project. Pembroke House invite you to a sharing event taking place on THURSDAY 27TH NOVEMBER at Pembroke House from 6-8PM. Pembroke House, 80 Tatum Street, SE17 1QR. For the past few months, a group of community storytellers have been connecting with former residential volunteers, and weaving together multi-layered stories of shared community life. Our public launch of the project on the 27th November will be an opportunity for the storytellers to share the journey of Becoming Neighbours. Over a shared meal, you’ll hear about the memories they have uncovered and have a chance to connect with residents, collaborators and others interested in collectively imagining a model for neighbourhood housing that reflects and responds to the needs of Walworth. | 2. Winter Festival “Winter in Walworth” – 6pm Weds 10th December. The next opportunity to gather together is coming up quickly: our Winter Festival “Winter in Walworth” celebration, hosted by our wonderful Trustees. Join us on Wednesday 10 December 2025 from 6pm to 9pm at All Saints Hall, Surrey Square, London SE17 2JU to celebrate this excellent year with our lovely community! RSVP Here! | 3. Men’s Health Event – Mon 24th Nov. In line with the theme of Movember, Southwark are hosting a free men’s health event at Walworth Town Hall on Monday 24th November 11AM to 2PM. Although this is an event aimed to promote men’s health, we invite everyone to attend to learn about and raise awareness on several important conditions. Activities at the event will include: Bowel cancer awareness Testicular cancer awareness Prostate cancer awareness Mental health awareness AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) awareness Mini health check (vital 5 health check) Hot drinks and light refreshments will be provided. | 4. Art Exhibition: 179 Burnt Ash Hill, Lee, SE12 0QF. Not Walworth but hope of interest. General Practice 179 is an art installation by Charlotte Mann exploring the history of a house at 179 Burnt Ash Hill, London SE12 0QF, which was previously the site of a real general practice. The installation features elements from three generations of Mann’s family—a doctor, a lawyer, and an artist—and was open to the public on specific days in November 2025 and has been extended to Saturdays until December 13, 2025. | 6. News Snippets. 1. Southwark News – What is happening with the stables and forge near the Old Kent Road? NB Premium Content 2. TfL/GetLiving/Southwark Council – ELEPHANT & CASTLE STATION CAPACITY UPGRADE PROJECT – TfL Transport for London (TfL) preparations are still ongoing to finalise the site before construction starts for the new passenger tunnels. Once construction is complete, the new station and passenger tunnels will provide a seamless connection to Northern line services at Elephant & Castle, while future-proofing for the Bakerloo Line Extension and supporting the delivery of new homes and jobs as part of the wider redevelopment. If you’d like to find out more about the project, take a look at TfL’s project noticeboard outside of the Northern line entrance to the station! Some further trial holes are being dug on the Peninsula, opposite the Michael Faraday Memorial near to Elephant & Castle Underground Station entrance, to understand the ground conditions. This will help TfL identify the best way to carry out the work and is expected to be completed by mid-November. 7. Kennington Noir Presents: This Woman Is Dangerous (1952) . This Woman is Dangerous (1952), directed by Felix E. Feist, with Joan Crawford, David Brian, and Dennis Morgan.![]() Ken has a soft spot for the lovely Joan and in this 1952 noir, presented from a 16mm print, she plays a gangster’s moll who is going blind. While she travels to Indiana for risky eye surgery, and her surgeon starts to fall for her, her gangster boyfriend shoots a policeman, and as he tries to contact her, the law moves in. This film was Crawford’s last film for Warner Bros, as she asked to be released from her contract. Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start. Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
