Walworth Society News – mid May 2023

1. Walworth Society General Meeting – Wednesday 24th May 7pm.

Our next general WS meeting will be held on Wednesday 24th May starting at 7pm. Please note, this is later in the month than usual: it is the 4th Wednesday rather than the 3rd. We are back to the 3rd Wednesday in June (21st).

The meeting will be face-to-face at the Tree House (downstairs meeting room), Elephant Park, SE17 1GD (see map below). 

The meeting will also held online via Zoom. We will do our best to make this work for those that do not wish, or cannot attend in person. To join on Zoom please click here or go to Zoom and join with meeting ID 878 5773 0647 and password 513868.

2. Save the Beehive PH Campaign – Latest.

Thanks so much to everyone who has already objected to the planning application to turn Beehive PH into flats. There has been an amazing response with more than 100 people already putting in their objections. There have many brilliant comments about what the Beehive means to everyone.

There has been great interest in the campaign from Southwark News and their most recent article is:

3. 2023 Walworth Plant Swap – Sunday 21st May 11am to 1pm

Come along to the 2023 Walworth Plant Swap on Sunday 21st May in Sutherland Square SE17 3EQ 11am to 1pm. The swap will take place in the Sutherland Square’s communal garden, and there will plenty to take away (a small donation will do if you have no spare plants to bring!). 

4. Kennington Bioscope

Wednesday 17th May, 7.30pm, Kennington Bioscope presents a double bill of films with a western theme, screened on 16mm and presented by Chris Bird.

Meg Morley will be playing for the first half and Colin Sell for the second half of tonight’s show.
